COOL TOUCH MASK MAGIC?

COOL TOUCH MASK MAGIC?

THE COOL TOUCH EXPERIENCE

I’ve worn a lot of masks since mid March.  I have a box full of testers to prove it!   So when I saw the cool touch fabric, I was intrigued.  I knew summer was coming and wearing a mask int the heat would probably not be the most comfortable feeling.  That seems like eons ago, and we have had tremendous success with this mask.  Our testers loved it from the get go, and we have just added this version in a contoured style mask as well as the original urbanite mask.

Since we are still in the midst of summer, although it is slipping by quickly, I thought I’d share my experience in case you’re wondering what is so magical about this mask. Since we get A LOT of questions about this mask, I figured that I would write a blog post about it.  Here, I share some information on the cool touch mask from my personal experience and that of our testers.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO WEAR OUR COOL TOUCH MASK

What does it feel like to wear the cool touch mask?

It’s quite refreshing actually!  If you and the mask are in an air conditioned place (home, office, etc) , when you first put it on, it feels like sticking your face in the fridge.  Does it stay that cool for the duration?  Not exactly.  Your breath does warm it up a little, but if you remain in air conditioned location, it stays relatively cool-ish.  It also makes wearing the mask more comfortable as it keeps the air that you are expelling drier.  Since your breath in the “mask bubble”, as I call it (more on this in another post coming soon), remains drier you are more likely to find wearing a mask a more pleasurable experience.

GREAT!  What if you’re not in an air conditioned location?

Good question.  So I wore it out on the sunny back patio in the middle of a humid heat wave to see what it would be like.  Does it stay cool?  Not really, BUT it does stay comfortable and dry as mentioned above, compared to a regular mask, which could get a little moist in high heat and humidity.  I didn’t feel like I had to take it off.

If the mask has not been sitting in an air conditioned location (i.e.: you left it in the car on a hot, sunny day) it will not feel cool when you put it on.  You will miss out on the "I just stuck my head in the fridge" experience.  It will still provide that moisture wicking capability and keep your mask feeling dry.

Which brings me to another often asked question:

Can I put it in the fridge?  I would not recommend this given the nature of the object - it’s a mask, I wouldn’t want to get food bacteria on my mask and you would NEVER want to do this if the mask was not clean - imagine putting a contaminated mask in the fridge...  Yikes!  So, no, I don’t recommend this.

If you wear glasses

So, you know how your glasses fog up when you go from hot to cold or vice versa and stay foggy as you try not to breathe and then you end up breathing harder, so now you're in fogville for a bit?  The cool touch mask helps with that.  You will get an initial fog (slight compared to regular masks and it seems only at the bottom part of your glasses) and it dissipates much more quickly so you're not temporarily blinded by the steam build up.

Tip: Wearing your glasses OVER your mask also goes a long way to averting this situation as it acts as a nose wire with or without the cool touch technology.

Hope this gives you a little more insight as to what the "cool touch" mask experience is like.  As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us by email or on our social media accounts.  We’d love to hear from you!
